I have made work friends. I have a Pokemon Go buddy and a lunch buddy. So, I am not a total weird-o loner. I did get to go to New York on Saturday. I got yelled at because we pulled over to the side of the street at a small overlook, and me—being fearless like I talked about a few blog posts ago—ended up jumping up on the wall. Sure, there was a 80 foot drop on the side, but in my defense I had my adventure mode clicked on and I needed the best angle for my photo. There is always a line of tree that presses into the forefront of photos, and it just makes the composition look boring, so I have to avoid that at all costs, even if it means standing on the edge of a cliff.
This weekend, I also realized that if someone shows me a shadow of the state that I am living in, I am not sure which one it is. Whoops. I promptly looked up all the states in the New England area. Guess, I have some homework to do on where I live and what states I can check off the bucket list. I found out I only have 20 states to go and there are at least 6 in this area that are a state or two away. *read next sentence in a car salesman voice* So if YOU’D like to fund my bucket list travel endeavors, DM me and I can tell YOU where to send money. YOU could be supporting some great life experiences and the taking of brilliant photos.
(I’m joking. I don’t expect anyone to fund me.)
The other cool thing I did this weekend was go shooting. That’s right, you’re reading the blog of a certified BA. Actually, I was so nervous. But it was a pretty strong adrenaline rush. I only shot a 9 mm and 45 mm. The movies makes the targets look so much further away. I mean, my first few shots were way off, but I definitely got more on target. You know those target print outs with the green dot in the middle? Well, I actually hit the green dot. My legs stopped shaking after the second round, but my hands never stopped shaking. It’s really nerve racking.
Then the next weekend I was slam packed with busyness. I spent Friday and Saturday morning writing. But then I walked through a river. There is a little river behind my house, so my neighbor/coworker and I went and walked through the river. We found some lobster looking things and the water almost got up to my waist. Who knew a small little river could be so deep?
As soon as you walk ten feet in, the sound of the outside world disappears. The rocks were slippery, but steady under my bare feet. I hopped across, a bit tentatively as I worried about falling. Luckily, I didn’t. But then, it opens up and there are these falls spread under the large arch of a bridge. The stone was washed a bit white in sunlight, but the sunlight bounced off the water’s surface and dance upon the rocks. The water dripping from the roots of trees that towered over me. The trees seem to scrape the clouds they are so high. Or maybe I’m just so small in comparison, perched on a rock, trying to get long exposure photos of waterfalls, as if that could ever capture the magnificence of this place.
Other than random river walks and hanging out with friends at the bar, I’ve basically been working a lot. I’m getting used to the whole living in Pennsylvania thing while trying to balance paying bills and for going out.
